Danny Garcia believes Erik Morales is tougher than Amir Khan ? Boxing News
WBC light welterweight titlist Danny Garcia will be entering the ring against Mexican legend Erik Morales this Saturday, for a rematch. Garcia, who defeated Morales earlier this year to earn the WBC title and then defeated Amir Khan to win the WBA light welterweight title, believes the Mexican is more dangerous than the Briton is.
?Morales definitely gave me a harder fight than Khan and also gave me a chance to fight for a title. If anyone deserved a rematch, it?s Erik Morales for giving me my first chance. That is boxing respect,? said Garcia.
It should be noted here that Morales was unable to make weight for their last fight yet he could not defeat Garcia. The unbeaten American fighter was slow in the ring against the Mexican but he was able to grab a win. A lot of criticism was thrown at Garcia for not being able to stop Morales earlier but the American fighter believed he did his best and it could not have been better.
?I feel so fortunate to have the opportunity to open Barclays Center in Brooklyn. They haven?t had world championship boxing in Brooklyn for more than 80 years, and it?s going to be a really special night for me and the rest of the fighters on the show,? said Garcia.
Garcia knocked out Khan in the fourth round to win the WBA title. While most fans were hoping Khan to knockout the American, what happened in the ring was something completely opposite. Garcia not only defeated Khan, he defeated him in a devastating manner.
Now, the unbeaten American is looking forward to knocking out Morales in the ring, with the hope of dominating the division without any doubts.
Since Morales had come off a bladder surgery just two months before their last engagement, most critics attribute his loss to the cause. This time, however, Morales has no excuse to defeat Garcia. If he is unable to win against the American, he will definitely be wiped out.
For now, Garcia is hoping to score a knockout against Morales in the initial rounds of the fight, something he did to Khan.
