Church Grows from Coffee House to Building

SACRAMENTO?

East Sacramento?s ?The Table? continues to grow ? offering a different kind of church experience.

Last year, they held services at a coffee house before moving into a building of their own.

?Couple of years ago, ?The Table? started with about 20 people. We are at about 150, from all demographics and all are welcome,? said Stephanie Fredrickson from The Table United Methodist Church.

The music isn?t traditional.

?We have a jazz band ? It?s really amazing, but it?s a place that?s hard to describe,? Fredrickson said.

And how you praise and give thanks to God is up to you.

?Some people do art while they are worshipping,? Fredrickson said.

It?s modern, but at the end of it all, the pastors of this church says they?re mission is to pass on God?s love.

?There are so many people folks that share that experience of being either burned or bored by church,? said Matt Smith, pastor at The Table.

The Table isn?t the only new and unique church. ?The Project? and Society Church are all doing things differently in Sacramento, hoping to draw people to God.
