Hope Solo Twitter Rant about Brandi Chastain Prompts Debate

CORAL GABLES (LALATE) ? A Hope Solo Twitter rant about Brandi Chastain of NBC Sports prompted debate and meetings today. But Hope Solo?s Twitter remarks about Chastain did not result in any disciplinary action, officials told news today.

What did Hope Solo say on Twitter? Solo posted to Twitter comments upset about Brandi Chastain. Chastain, a former US player, had given commentary for NBC during the US Women?s match against Colombia Saturday.

Chastain during the NBC telecast was critical about Team USA?s defensive performance against Colombia. Solo was unhappy with those remarks.

Solo tweeted ?Its 2 bad we can?t have commentators who better represents the team knows more about the game?. She also advised Chastain to ?lay off commentating about defending? and told her to take a break from the broadcast booth ?until you get more educated? and ?the game has changed from a decade ago.?

Solo even commented on Twitter about questions whether she would be disciplined. ?Discipline? Ha! For what! Never even a topic! We talked about our team deserving the best!?

In a news statement, Chastian defended her commentary. ?I?m here to do my job, which is to be an honest and objective journalist at the Olympics, nothing more than that.?

Coach Pia Sundhage told news today that Solo was not told to change the way she tweets during these Olympic games. ?I don?t punish people. And I don?t know what?s right and wrong.?

Solo in 2011 made news for her remarks about judges on ABC?s Dancing with the Stars. She told the judges at the time that they should ?kiss my ?ing b?ty.? She then joined partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy in criticizing judge Carrie Ann Inaba, telling news ?Carrie Ann? I think Carrie Ann has an issue.?
