Eminem turns 40 Wednesday, and it's tough to think of the often-controversial rapper as middle-aged. After all, he once sang about slitting his wife's throat. It's not likely he'll sail into a comfortable old age wearing cardigan sweaters and puffing on a pipe, all Bing Crosby style. (Although Der Bingle had his own family issues.)

Eminem's hometown paper,?The Detroit News,?noted that he's in good company in the 40ish rapper club, as Jay-Z is 42 and Dr. Dre 47.
The paper also celebrated the rapper's big 4-0 by choosing Eminem's top 40 songs.
No surprise, Oscar-winning "Lose Yourself," from his 2002 film "8 Mile," sits at No. 1. And yes, grisly "Kim" is No. 2, with equally bloody obsessed fan tale "Stan" at No. 3. "97 Bonnie and Clyde" is their pick for No. 4, and the catchy, pop-culture-reference-filled "Real Slim Shady" is at No. 5.
At 40, he's still the Real Slim Shady.
